Short Post Friday - Dishonesty

 I'm going to attempt not to rant, and let my blood pressure cool. In my business I deal with a lot of other trades, One of which I cannot stand. It seems that without fail just 'hiring-on' with this specific trade in this specific position makes you a liar. I don't know what it is but, but it makes me so very angry. Why do liars continue lying?! 

You know, it's thought, by some, maybe many, that in certain situations telling the truth will make you less liked. It's a lame excuse, but let's just say that sometimes that's true... but compared to what? Who on earth says 'I'm glad that guy lied to me'?

I'm often called to jobs where there is no good solution I can professionally offer, even more often I get called to jobs where the product I sell wouldn't help the homeowner. So I tell them that, very often, I unsell my own products... the interesting part is that 90% of the time those customers will make-up another need just to buy something from me. Just the act of not lying sells jobs in my experience. Yet, this particular vocation is BUILT upon lying to people and upselling unnecessary products. I HATE that.

Since this is a religious blog, I should probably make some sort of tie-in to religion and the unnecessary products they sell you and lies they feed your fear with, but I'm not going to because I'm just talking about how much I hate lying and dishonesty.

Seriously stop it, just speak truthfully.

How to spot Religious Manipulation

Is Someone Trying to Control You? Manipulation and Gaslighting are common terms that describe a situation where one person is trying to gain control over another person. Though the most common use of these concepts is in the field of social relationships, the concepts are just as widely used in business, industry and extremely often in Religion. It is no secret that the Obedient, Docile and Believing nature of Religious people make them a target to the type of people that desire Power and Control. SHORT POST: Faith

 I started thinking about faith again today while talking to a friend who is still, like a great many of my old friends, unknowingly deep in the muck of institutionalized religion. Earlier this week I was contact by another person who was concerned about my salvation in light of my not keeping the Levitical Holy Days. Together these two conversations really did a number to my mood. I'm 98th percentile Neurotic according to the 'big 5' personality test system, and these kinds of conversations really bring me down. In the majority of these types of conversations I find myself in a corner, not a corner with no answer to questions of faith mind you, but a corner with no chance of explaining myself.
